97/365 - Giraffe on the Street

I have hit brick wall at the moment. My camera is nothing but a source of irritation at best, extreme frustration at worst. I honestly didn't want to shoot anything today. I forced myself to try and wandered around Collinsville a little this morning. Nothing worked, the light was terrible.

Usually I can find something, my eye notices some little detail that inspires me. Not today. As I was getting ready to leave, I noticed a baby/children's gift shop and it had a giant stuffed giraffe sitting out front. After a moment's hesitation and a left turn from the right lane, I pulled over and took a picture, figuring at least if it wasn't something brilliant, it was at least out of the ordinary.

I came home and didn't pick up the camera again all day. Maybe I will make up with it tomorrow.

  1. This is something I wonder about too - how to find inspiration *every day* for a 365 project? I agree with your comment that the discipline of doing it probably improves your eye for a shot, which is something I need to get much better at for sure.

Is this another lensbaby shot? I'm finding it very interesting seeing the effects you get from that. What gave you the spark of interest in the first place to start using a lensbaby?

  2. Yes, it is a lensbaby shot. I had never heard of a lensbaby, but my husband had and thought it would be something I might like to play around with, given the type of photography I gravitate toward. SO he got it for me for our anniversary.

The frustrating thing at the moment is that I know there is something inside me, creatively - but it's like it's locked in. I haven't found the muse to let it out!
